Hartford Opera Theater to Present ‘Fortune’s Children’

Hartford Opera Theater is set to present the world premiere of “Fortune’s Children: A Zoom Opera” on Oct. 16 and 17, 2020.

The new work, composed and written by David Wolfson, will be performed live with three singers from different states including Darius A. Gillard, Markel Reed, and Thao Nguyen.

The opera takes place at the beginning of the next pandemic with three adult brothers of different socioeconomic status engaging in a Zoom meeting to decide who will take care of their elderly mother.The work will be directed by Moira O’Sullivan, who has worked with such organizations as New Wave Theater Collective, Playhouse on Park, and other regional theaters across New England.

Wolfson is the composer of such works as “Story Salad,””How to Be Sorry,” and “Twinkle, Dammit!”
