Harlem Opera Theater is set to present Mark Fax’s “A Christmas Miracle” on Dec. 10, 2022.

The work, which will be presented at church of the Intercession in New York City, will feature baritone Alfred Barclift, soprano Manna K. Jones, and tenor Antonio Chase. Gregory Hopkins, the company’s Artistic Director, will accompany at the piano.

Fax is a Baltimore-born African American composer and music educator who has composed such works as “Three Piano Pies and Toccatina” and “Till Victory is Won.”

Harlem Opera Theater was founded in 2001 with the goal of offering a wide range of music including opera, oratory concerts, Negro Spirituals, and other forms of American music. Per the company’s official website, it’s mission is to ““to provide performance opportunities for professional and developing gifted artists within Harlem and communities where opera is seldom performed; and to cultivate and expand audience appreciation for opera and classical music through creative programming. Particular focus, through not exclusive emphasis is given to the works of African-American composers and to projects that link different aspects of the performing arts.”
