Harlem Collective Opera Announces New Home Base

By David Salazar

Harlem Collective Opera has announced the establishment of its new home at the Booker T. Washington Community Center, located at 325 E. 101st Street in East Harlem.

The center will also serve as the physical base for the Mood Media Network, including WHRL Mood Radio, which is now broadcasting from the building. The space will also host opera performances and productions, vocal recitals, chamber music and classical concerts, as well as artist rehearsals, youth and educational programming, and community events.

Among the organizations that will share the space are Harlem Collective Opera, Harlem Boys Choir and Harlem Chamber Orchestra. Moreover, during the 2026-27 season, each of the three organizations will work within a recurring two-week performing cycle, repeated four times throughout the year.

“We are deeply grateful to Rev. Kim Wright and the Booker T. Washington Community Center for opening the doors to this next chapter,” said Jarvus Hester, Founder and Artistic Director of Harlem Collective Opera, per an official press release. “A home matters. A place matters. This partnership gives us the opportunity to bring together performance, broadcasting, education, and community in one place.”
