Handel And Haydn Society To Present Mozart’s ‘Requiem’

By Nicole Kuchta

The Handel and Haydn Society will conclude its 2018-19 season with a performance of Mozart’s final masterpiece, “Requiem.”

The program is also set to include Mozart’s intensely emotional “Masonic Funeral Music,” Allegri’s “Miserere mei, Deus,” which “captures the profound sadness, weight and power of the Passion story,” and Bach’s motet “Singet dem Herrn.”

Featured vocalists will include soprano Joelle Harvey, mezzo-soprano Sandra Piques Eddy, tenor Tom Randle, and bass Solomon Howard. They will be joined by the Handel and Haydn Orchestra and Chorus, as well as the Handel and Haydn Young Men’s Chorus and Young Women’s Chamber Choir. Artistic Director Harry Christophers will conduct.

President and CEO David Snead stated in the press release that H+H is “anticipating a powerful performance that will stay in the minds and souls of [our] audience until the next season begins.”

Performances will take place on May 3 & 5, 2019 at Symphony Hall in Boston.
