‘Hamilton’ Performers to Join Michigan Opera Theatre’s ‘Operetta Remix’ Summer Theatre Program

Michigan Opera Theatre has announced that several performers from “Hamilton” will be joining the company’s “Operetta Remix” summer theatre program as guest artists.

Among the performers joining the program are Jonathan Christopher and Nikisha Williams, both ensemble members of the touring production of “Hamilton. Christopher understudies as Aaron Burr and George Washington, while Williams understudies as Eliza, Angelica, and Peggy.

“Michigan Opera Theatre has prided itself on connecting students with renowned industry talent, and we are thrilled to bring these incredible artists from one of Broadway’s most successful shows among our guest artists this summer,” said MOT Director of Education Andrea Scobie in a press release. “Through Zoom, we are excited to continue our commitment to arts education while keeping our students, staff and artists safe during this time of social distancing.”

The program will take place between August 3-7, with students exploring works of operetta and musical theater. Other guest artists that will work with students include Cecilia Violetta Lopez and Suzanne Mallare Acon, among others.
