Hamburg State Opera Announces Reopening on May 28

The Hamburg State Opera will reopen on May 28 with two productions.

Georges Delnon and John Neumeier announced that the company will premiere a new production of Handel’s “Agrippina” staged by Barrie Kosky. Riccardo Minasi will conduct a cast that includes Anna Bonitatibus, Luca Tittoto, Julia Lezhneva, Christophe Dumaux, Franco Fagioli, Renato Dolcini, Vasily Khoroshev, and Chao Deng. The Ensemble Resonanz will perform. For audiences not in the theater, the premiere will be broadcast live on NDR Kultur.

The Hamburg Ballet will premiere John Neumeier’s latest full-length creation Beethoven-Projekt II. The ballet will open on May 29 and was intended to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday. General Music Director Kent Nagano will lead the project.

The Hamburg State Opera will follow safety protocols to ensure the safety of its audience and performers.
