HALO to Present College Basketball ‘Rigoletto’
By David SalazarHoly City Arts & Lyric Opera (HALO) is set to premiere “Rigoletto.”
The production, set to take place at Charleston’s Festival Hall, will star Paul LaRosa in the title role. He is joined by Ashley Fabian as Gilda and Christopher Bozeka as the Duke. Other cast members include Robert Pomakov, Lucy Evans, Katie Small, Kenneth Stavert, Samuel Stevenson, and Chris Morris.
The opera will be directed by Cara Consilvio, who will adapt the Verdi masterpiece to a 90-minute runtime and set it in the context of a college basketball team. Sara Nietfeld will be the costume designer, Lawrence Moten will provide scenic design, and Abigail Hoke-Brady will be the lighting designer.

Performances are slated for Nov. 1-5, 2023.
