Gustavo Dudamel & LA PHilharmonic to Make History at Coachella
By Francisco SalazarGustavo Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic will make history as the first orchestra to perform at Coachella.
The conductor took to social media and said, “First orchestra to perform at Coachella! See you in the desert, friends.”
The conductor and orchestra will perform on April 12 and 19, on the same nights that Green Day will headline and Charli XCX and Anitta will also perform.
Coachella is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. It was co-founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen in 1999, and is organized by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Presents.
Dudamel is no stranger to pop culture as he and the LA Philharmonic have performed alongside Christina Aguilera, Ricky Martin, Billie Eilish, and Natalia Lafourcade. He has also conducted the score to Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story” and starred as the subject of a documentary on his life, “¡Viva Maestro!,” released by Participant Media. He voiced the character of Trollzart in the DreamWorks animated feature “Trolls World Tour” and appeared in Amazon Studios’ award-winning comedy series “Mozart in the Jungle,” and Disney’s “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.”
