The Gulbenkian Orchestra is set to present a concert entitled “Composing for Voices and Orchestra” at the Grand Auditorium in Lisbon.

The showcase, which is scheduled for July 15, 2022, is the culmination of the enoa workshop tutored by composer Kaija Saariaho during which composers were given the opportunity of creating works for voice and orchestra.

The concert will feature works by Daniel Davis, Jue Wang, Lanquing Ding, Solange Azevedo, Nelson Jesus, and Nino Russell as performed by Eduarda Melo, Camila Mandillo, André Henriques, Tiago Matos, and Madalena Pinheiro.

The concert will also include a performance of Saariaho’s “Cinq reflets,” also featuring soprano Faustine De Monès, who recently appeared in Saariaho’s “Château de l’âme” with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in Paris; she is also set to appear in another Saariaho piece, “Die Aussicht” at the Festival Musica later this fall.

“Composing for Voice and Orchestra” will be conducted by Pedro Amaral.
