Guildhall School of Music & Drama Partners With Age UK Camden to Create ‘Music Bank’
By David SalazarMusicians from Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London are partnering with Age UK Camden to bring music to isolated people living with dementia during the times of COVID-19. The program is entitled “Music Bank.”
Per a press release, over 1.4 million older people in London are struggling with social isolation and the aim of the organizations is to create a musical experience that will provide some company and support for these isolated men and women. Around 12 students, staff, and alumni from Guildhall School and 12 Age UK Camden clients will connect over Zoom for 30-45 minute sessions. The program is set to start this November.

Conversation and friendship sit at the heart of this important project, a collaboration that brings together an extraordinary program of musical styles and influences. Technology, innovation, and live performance working in perfect harmony,” said Sean Gregory, Director of Innovation & Engagement, Guildhall School of Music & Drama & Barbican, in the press release.
Students, staff, and alumni from Guildhall School involved in the project include John Morcom, Jack Hudson, Caroline Breman, Nicola Demosthenous, Catherine Price, Joana Praca, Lise Vandersmissen, Ann Sloboda, Claire Habbershaw, Helena Ricci, Kirsty McLean, and Fiona-Jane Weston.
