The Grimeborn Opera Festival is set to kick off its 2024 edition.

First up is Heinrich August Marschner’s “Der Vampyr” in a production by Julia Mintzer conducted by Kelly Lovelady. The opera, presented by Gothic Opera, stars Giuseppe Pellingra, Milena Knauß, Jack Roberts, Amber Reeves, Conall O’Neill, Madeleine Todd, Matthew Scott Clark, and Gráinne Master.

Performance Date: August 14 – 17, 2024

Becca Marriott directs a radical reimaging of “La Bohème,” presented by The Opera Makers and Arcola Theatre. Marriott stars in the production alongside Thom Isherwood, Martins Smaukstelis, Valerie Wong, and Davide Basso.

Performance Date: August 20 – 24, 2024

Becca Mariott provides a family-friendly libretto based on Pergolesi’s “La Serva Padrona.” The opera, entitled “Mr. Punch at the Opera” and presented by The Opera Makers, stars Grace Nyandoro, Matthew Kellett, and Professor James.

Performance Date: August 21 – 24, 2024

Next up is “Le Nozze di Figaro” presented by Ensemble OrQuesta in a production by Marcio da Silva, who also stars in the title role. The opera also stars Helen May, Oshri Segev, Hollie-Anne Clark, and Anna-Louise Wagner. Kieran Staub conducts.

Performance Date: August 27 – 31, 2024

Then comes Logan Lopez Gonzalez and Eleanor Burke’s “555: Verlaine en Prison,” presented by Green Opera. The opera stars Lopez Gonzalez, Anna Sideris, and Stella Marie Lorenz as the pianist.

Performance Date: Sept. 4 – 7, 2024

Phaedra Ensemble presents Edward Jessen’s “Plantaiona” based on Robbe-Griller’s “Jealousy.” The work stars Anna Puch.

Performance Date: Sept. 11 – 14, 2024

Finally Barefoot Opera will present “La Traviata” in a production by Michael Spenceley and Alfie Chesney. The Verdi classic stars Beren Fidan, Tylor Lamani, and Mike Dewis. Laurence Panter is the music director.
