Gregory Kunde, Ramona Zaharia & Ruzil Gatin Lead Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia’s 2022 Season

The Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia has announced its 2022 season featuring four productions.

The season opens with Bizet’s “Carmen” starring Martina Belli and Ramona Zaharia in the title role; Arturo Chacon-Cruz and Azer Zada as Don Jose; Marco Caria and Alessandro Luongo as Escamillo; Laura Giordano and Veronica Marini as Michaela. Jordi Bernacer conducts the production by Silvia Paoli.

Performance Dates: Jan. 28-30, 2022

Verdi’s “Ernani” will be showcased with a cast that includes Gregory Kunde, Ernesto Petti, Evgeny Stavinsky, Francesca Dotto, Federica Giansanti, and Raffaele Feo. Alvise Casellati conducts the production by Gianmaria Aliverta.

Performance Dates: Feb. 11-13, 2022

Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will star Ruzil Gatin, Riccardo Novaro, Michela Antenucci, Simone Del Savio, Guido Loconsolo, Ana Victoria Pitts, and Alex Martini. Leonardo Sini conducts the production by Fabio Cherstich.

Performance Dates: March 25-27, 2022

The season concludes with Kurt Weill’s “Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny.” Christopher Franklin conducts a cast that includes Christopher Lemmings, Marianne Cornetti, Chris Merritt, Bongani J. Kubheka, Anne-Marie Kremer, Tobias Hächler, Horst Lamnek, and Alexander Milev. Henning Brockhaus directs.

Performance Dates: May 13-15, 2022
