Gregory Kunde & Eleni Calenos Headline Maryland Lyric Opera’s ‘Otello’

Maryland Lyric Opera will continue its 2022-23 season with Verdi’s “Otello” on March 3 and 5, 2023.

The production of Verdi’s final tragedy will star Gregory Kunde in the title role, Eleni Calenos as Desdemona, and Mark Delavan as Iago. Other cast members include Patricia Schuman and Yi Li.

Leading the production is conductor Philippe Augin with David Gately directing. Stuart Duke will be the lighting designer and Sarah Tundermann will be the projection designer.

Both performances are set for The Music Center at Strathmore. Both performances will run for two hours and 45 minutes, including one 20-minute intermission.

“Otello” represents the fourth Verdi opera that the company has performed this season following “Un Ballo in Maschera,” “Macbeth,” and “Falstaff.”
