Greek National Opera Announces Online Festival ‘Exit: Spring’

The Greek National Opera has announced its first online festival “Exit: Spring.”

The showcase, which was curated by Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis will launch on May 17 and run through June 8. Audiences will get a chance to see 11 new opera, music, operetta, and music theatre performances via the company’s official website, Facebook, or YouTube Channel.

For opera lovers, it all kicks off on May 28 with “Eight Dodescanesian Songs” featuring Marina Satti. On May 31, Elias Voudouris will conduct “Opera Povera,” which will feature soloists of the Greek National Opera and six members of the Greek National Opera orchestra. Alexandros Efklidis directs.

June 4 brings “Operetta Povera” directed by Efklidis and conducted by Voudouris. Again, audiences will see performances by soloists and orchestra members from the Greek National Opera.

Kouroupos and P. Korovessis’ “The Assembly of Animals” will be presented on June 6, 2020.

The festival ends on June 8 with “When Will, When Will Summer Come?” featuring the company’s children’s chorus under Chorus Master Konstantina Pitsiakou.

There will be several other performances featuring such artists as Theodore Tzovanakis, Michael Kolokotronis, Tios Gouvelis, and Daphnis Kokkinos, among many others.
