Grange Park Opera has announced that opera singer Wynne Evans has been appointed as a trustee.

The Welsh artist, who is actually best known for his role as the spoof opera star Gio Compario in the Go Compare Insurance ads, will take on the role with immediate effect.

Evans also has a daily show on BBC Radio Wales and has presented on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM; he also has a TV series on BBC One Wales entitled “Wynne at the Deep End.”

Additionally, Evans has appeared with such companies as the Royal Opera House, Opera de Lyon, and Metropolitan Opera throughout this career.

“I am beyond excited to join the team at Grange Park Opera, where I’ve enjoyed some of the most atmospheric performances of my career, and have even bought a new tie and pocket square in honor of the occasion,” Evans stated in a press release. ““If anyone from GoCompare is reading, it goes without saying that comparing insurance comes a very close second to opera in terms of passion areas in my life. I will do everything I can to support Grange Park Opera, Surrey, in delivering its vision, and am honored to be appointed a trustee for this dynamic organization.”
