Gran Teatre Del Liceu To Stream Trio of Verdi Operas Throughout Holiday Season

The Gran Teatre Del Liceu will broadcast three operas by Verdi on MEZZO TV throughout the holiday season.

First up will be “Rigoletto” starring tenor Javier Camarena in the role of Duca di Mantua, soprano Desirée Rancatore as Gilda, bass Ante Jerkunica as Sparafucile, and baritone Carlos Álvarez in the title role. Riccardo Frizza conducted the production by Monique Wagemakers. The work was performed and filmed in 2014.

Audiences will get to check out the broadcast for the first time on Dec. 26 2020 at 8:30 p.m. CET followed by showcases on Dec. 29 at 8:30 a.m. CET, Jan. 1 2021 at 1:00 p.m. CET, and Jan. 3 at 6:10 pm. CET.

MEZZO will also present the Gran Teatre del Liceu’s productions of “Aida” and “La Traviata.”

“Aida” will be presented on Dec. 27, and stars Angela Meade, Yonghoon Lee, Clementine Margaine, Kwangchul Youn, and Mariano Buccino. This performance took place on Jan. 22, 2020 at 4:20 p.m. CET.

“La Traviata” will be presented starring Kristina Mkhitaryan, Dmitry Korchak, and Giovanni Meoni. This production was filmed on Dec. 21, 2020, and will be streamed on Dec. 31 at 3:30 p.m. CET.
