Gran Teatre del Liceu To Present First Zarzuela In Cinemas

The Gran Teatre del Liceu is set to make history presenting a Zarzuela in cinema for the first time ever.

The opera that will obtain said distinction is Amadeu Vives’ “Doña Francisquita,” with the presentation set for Nov. 12, 2019.

Óliver Díaz conducts a Lluís Pasqual’s production that stars María José Moreno in the title role alongside Celso Albelo as Fernando. The cast is rounded out by Ana Ibarra, María José Suárez, Aejandro del Cerro, Isaac Galán and Miguel Sola. The production will also feature Gonzalo de Castro and Lucero Tena.

The opera will be showcased in China, Russia, Italy, Canada, Germany, Austria, and the United States. The production will also be re-transmitted by Televisión Española on Dec. 23, 2019.

The production opens on Nov. 10 and runs through 17, 2019. It also stars Elena Sancho Pereg in the title role and Antonio Lozano as Fernando.
