Gran Teatre del Liceu to Perform for Plants

By Francisco Salazar

The Gran Teatre del Liceu is set to offer a concert to plants.

Under the title “Concierto para el bioceno,” the Barcelona theater will perform a concert to 2,292 plants, which will be placed throughout the theater. The concert will be held on June 22, a day after the state of emergency in Spain is lifted.

The project is a creation of artist Eugenio Ampudia and a collaboration with la Galería Max Estrella.

The concert will include Puccini’s “Crisantemi,” interpreted by the UceLi Quartet. The Liceu will stream the event on the company’s page and after the concert, the plants will be donated to the personnel of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona with an artistic certificate.

The news comes a day after the company announced its 2020-21 season, which will open in September.
