Gran Teatre del Liceu Cancels ‘La Traviata’ Performances & Announces Cast Changes

The Gran Teatre del Liceu has canceled its remaining performances of “La Traviata” due to the government’s new restrictions.

The company announced that until the PROCICAT revises the restrictions and allows more than 500 audience members, the theater can not continue performing. The Teatre noted that performing for 500 people is economically unsustainable.

As a result, the company will await the results of PROCICAT and also announced that all cast members of the current production will continue in Barcelona in case conditions change.

Additionally, the Gran Teatre del Liceu a cast change for its upcoming production of “Les Contes d’Hoffmann.” The company announced that Riccardo Frizza will substitute Jordan de Souza, who has canceled for personal reasons.

The theater also announced that “Winterreise” has been postponed on June 8, 9, and 10.
