Gran Teatre del Liceu Announces Upcoming Productions by Tcherniakov & Bieito

The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a series of upcoming productions.

The company revealed that it would be presenting new showcases of “War and Peace” and “Giulio Cesare.”

The Prokofiev opera will arrive in the next few seasons and will be featured in a co-production with the Bayerische Staatsoper, where it will premiere in March of 2023. Dmitri Tcherniakov will direct.

That will be followed by Calixto Bieito’s take on “Giulio Cesare.” The Händel Opera, a co-production with the Dutch National Opera and Ballet, will bow in January 2023.

The company recently announced that it would be adding a production of “Winterreise” to its 2022-23 season. The Gran Teatre del Liceu’s 2022-23 season will open this fall with a production of “Don Pasquale.” The company will also showcase such works as “La gata perduda,” “Il Trovatore,” “Il Trittico,” “Tosca,” “Macbeth,” “Alcina,” “The Seven Deaths of Maria Callas,” “Alexina B.,” “Manon,” “Parsifal,” and “L’Incoronazione di Poppea.”
