By Francisco Salazar

The Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona has announced two cast changes for its June 28 performance of “Die Zauberflote.”

The company noted that Julien Behr will replace Javier Camarena in the role of Tamino while Nicolas Testé will sing the part of Sarastro replacing Stephen Milling.

The news comes as Camarena and Milling tested positive for COVID-19 and were forced to cancel other performances. Behr and Testé performed on June 27 with the second cast.

For the June 28 performance, they join Kathryn Lewek, Lucy Crowe, and Thomas Oliemans. Gustavo Dudamel conducts the production by Sir David McVicar.

“Die Zauberflote” performances are set to run through July 2 with the next performance scheduled for June 30, 2022.
