Gran Teatre del Liceu Announces New Cast Change for ‘La Cenerentola’

The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a new cast change for Rossini’s “La Cenerentola.”

The company said that Maria Kataeva will sing the title role replacing Gaëlle Arquez, who is forced to cancel due to personal reasons.

Kataeva will sing the performances on May 18, 21, 24, 29 and June 1, 2024.

The mezzo is known for her interpretations of the such diverse repertoire from Baroque to Contemporary music. She is a member of the opera studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.

She is set to join a cast that includes Javier Camarena, Florian Sempey, Paolo Bordogna, and Erwin Schrott. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the production by Emma Dante. A second cast includes Carol Garcia, Marko Mimica, Sunnyboy Dladla, Carles Pachón, and Pablo Ruiz.
