The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced cast changes for its production of Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur.”

The company said that Roberto Alagna will join the cast, while Jonas Kaufmann will cancel his participation in the opera. Alagna will sing on June 17, 20, and 26, while Freddie De Tommaso will perform on June 19, 22, and 29, 2024.

Meanwhile, Eleonora Buratto has canceled her participation noting that she believed it too early to tackle the role of Adriana Lecouvreur, while hoping to be able to offer it in the coming seasons. She will be replaced by Aleksandra Kurzak on June 17 and 20 and Valeria Sepe on June 29.

Finally, Anita Rachvelishvili has left the production for artistic reasons. In her place, Daniela Barcellona takes over the first cast and Clémentine Margaine joins the second cast.

Patrick Summers conducts the production which is also set to star Sonya Yoncheva, Ambrogio Maestri, and Luis Cansino.
