Gran Teatre del Liceu Announces Conductor Change for ‘Alexina B.’

The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a conductor change for its production of “Alexina B.”

The company said that due to “the composition process of ‘Alexina B.’ which has taken longer than expected, Josep Pons will no longer be able to conduct the production.” As a result, Ernest Martínez Izquierdo will take over as the conductor of the opera.

Izquierdo has conducted at the Finnish National Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Quebec Opera, Ópera de Paris, and teh Teatro Real.

The opera is set to star Lídia Vinyes-Curtis, Alicia Amo, Elena Copons, Xavier Sabata, and Mar Esteve. Marta Pazos directs the production.

Alexina B.” opens on March 18 and will be performed through March 22, 2023.
