The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a cast change for Berg’s “Wozzeck.”

The company noted that soprano Annemarie Kremer will perform the part of Marie, replacing Elena Zhidkova, who has been forced to withdraw due to illness.

Kremer is a Dutch soprano who has performed with Opernhaus Dortmund, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Vienna Volksoper, Teatro Regio di Parma, and Opera North. Her repertoire includes the music of Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Ricard Strauss, and Berg. This season she performs in Monte-Carlo, Salzburg, and Essen.

Kremer joins a cast that includes Matthias Goerne, Torsten Kerl, Peter Tantsits, Mikeldi Atxalandabaso, and Rinat Shaham. Josep Pons conducts the production by William Kentridge.

“Wozzeck” will be performed from May 22 through June 4, 2022.
