Gran Teatre del Liceu Announces Cast Change for ‘La Traviata

The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a cast change for its December production of “La Traviata”

The company announced that Artur Ruciński and Àngel Òdena will sing the role of Giorgio Germont replacing George Petean, who will be unable to participate for personal reasons. 

Ruciński is well known for performing the bel canto and Verdi repertoire. He has performed at the Teatro Real, Metropolitan Opera, Deustche Oper Berlin, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Meanwhile, Òdena is best known for the Italian repertoire and performing in Italy and Spain.

Both baritones join a cast that includes Rosa Feola and  Kristina Mkhitaryan in the title role and Pavol Breslik and Dmitry Korchak as Alfredo. The production is set to be conducted by Speranza Scapucci and will open on Dec. 5, 2020.
