The Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona has announced a cast change for Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The company revealed that tenor Pavol Breslik has been forced to cancel due to laryngitis. In his stead, tenors Dmitry Korchak and Arturo Chacon-Cruz will take over performances slated for Dec. 16 and 17.

Korchak is currently performing the production and will take on two performances in a row after having appeared during the Dec. 15 showcase; he will now also sing on the 16th. Meanwhile, Chacon-Cruz, who is in the middle of rehearsals for “Les Contes d’Hoffman,” will sing the performance scheduled for Dec. 17.

Korchak will sing alongside Pretty Yende while Chacon-Cruz will sing alongside Lisette Oropesa. Speranza Scapucci conducts the David McVicar production.
