The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a cast change for “Don Pasquale” on Sept. 25.

The company said that baritone Alessandro Corbelli will sing the title role replacing Carlos Chausson who has pharyngitis.

Corbelli is currently performing in the second cast of “Don Pasquale” at the Liceu and has performed the role around the world including at the Metropolitan Opera. He is a well known bass-baritone who has also performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House, Wiener Staatsoper, and Bayerische Staatsoper, among others.

Corbelli joins a cast that includes Andrzej Filonczyk, Xabier Anduaga, and Sarah Blanch. Josep Pons conducts Damiano Michieletto’s production.

Chausson returns to the production on Sept. 27 while Corbelli is set to perform on Oct. 3 with a cast also starring Serena Saenz. “Don Pasquale” runs through Oct. 9.
