Gran Teatre Del Liceu Announces Cast Change For ‘Aida’

The Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona has announced a cast change for its Jan. 23, 2020 performance of Verdi and Ghislanzoni’s “Aida.”

The company announced that Yonghoon Lee will sing the role of Radamès, replacing Luciano Ganci due to illness.

Lee is currently starring in Cast A of “Aida” at the Liceu and performed the role on Jan. 22 alongside Angela Meade and Clémentine Margaine. Lee has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Opera Australia, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, and the Dallas Opera. This season he returns to the Royal Opera and Opera Australia.

The tenor is set to join a cast that includes Jennifer Rowley in the title role, Judit Kutasi, Marko Mimica, Àngel Òdena. Gustavo Gimeno conducts the production.

Luciano Ganci is set to return to the production on Jan. 28, 2020.
