The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced that it will co-produce a new Ring Cycle.

The company said that La Monnaie/De Munt will first produce the tetralogy in the new 2023-24 season and it will be directed by Romeo Castellucci. Then during the 2026-27 season, the Liceu will showcase the productions of “Das Rheingold” and “Die Walküre.”

According to Artistic Director Víctor Garcia de Gomar, the Ring Cycle is a dream for any theater in the world. he added that Castellucci defines a new way to understand opera/

Castellucci is known for winning such awards as Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2002 and the Golden Lion in Biennale di Venezia. He has worked at teh Salzburg Festival, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Berlin State Opera, among others.
