Gran Teatre de Liceu Announces Conductor Change for ‘Manon’

By Francisco Salazar

The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a conductor change for its production of Massenet’s “Manon.”

The company said that Marc Minkowski requires absolute rest from his arm injury due to the overexertion made in the last two weeks. As a result, the May 3 performance of “Manon” will be conducted by maestro Romain Dumas, the maestro’s assistant director in this production.

Dumas has conducted the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen, l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Tours, l’Orchestre National d’Ile de France, l’Orchestre symphonique de Mulhouse, Les Musiciens du Louvre, and l’Orchestre du Chambre de Nouvelle-Calédonie, among others.

The performance will star Nadine Sierra in the title role, Michael Fabiano as De Greiux, Alexandre Duhamel as Lescaut, and Laurent Naouri as Comte des Greiux. Olivier Py directs the production.
