The Grafenegg Festival is set to take place in August.

Artistic director pianist Rudolf Buchbinder said that after meetings with government and broadcast officials in Vienna, the Austrian festival will take place across its 32-acre castle park. According to the Buchbinder, the festival will comply with sanitary regulations for the country.

In a statement Buchbinder said “We have fantastic orchestras in Austria. And there are many conductors and soloists who live in Austria. We have to set signals and we can do that in Grafenegg thanks to the open-air stage.”

The festival is set to open on August 14 with one of the concerts named “We are playing for Austria.” Further details will be announced on June 3.

The announcement comes as a surprise as the majority of the music festivals have canceled their 2020 festivals, including the Bayreuth Festival, Edinburgh Festival, and Santa Fe Opera.
