Governor of Colorado Proclaims Ellie Caulkins Opera Day in Colorado

By Francisco Salazar

Governor Jared Polis officially proclaimed Feb. 27 as Ellie Caulkins Opera Day, recognizing 20 years of The Ellie as a gathering place where people come together through music, storytelling, and shared experience.

The Governor made the proclamation at the gala concert honoring 20th anniversary of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The showcase featured baritone Will Liverman.

In a statement, Opera Colorado said, “This honor celebrates more than a building. It reflects the vision and generosity of Ellie Caulkins, and it honors the audiences, students, artists, volunteers, and neighbors who have filled the space with energy and meaning, and the joyful moments that have unfolded there. From first visits and school matinees to unforgettable performances and evenings shared with loved ones, the Ellie has become part of Denver’s civic life and cultural identity.”
