Golda Schultz Wins Bavarian Culture Prize

The  2022 Bavarian Culture Prize has been awarded to the South African opera singer Golda Schultz.

In a statement regarding Schultz, Arts Minister Markus Blume said, “A fantastic firework of tones fills the stage when Golda Schultz sings.”

The prize includes a value of 96,000 Euros.

Schultz trained at New York’s Juilliard School and Bayerische Staatsoper’s Opernstudio and has performed at the Wiener Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, San Francisco Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Salzburger Festspiele. She made her solo album debut with “This Be Her Verse” for Alpha Classics.

This season she is set to perform with the Paris Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Glyndebourne, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Radio de France, and Carnegie Hall.
