Golda Schultz Replaces Ailyn Pérez At Bayerische Staatsoper

By Francisco Salazar

Ailyn Pérez has pulled out of the Bayerische Staatsoper’s “Carmen.”

Pérez was scheduled to sing the role of Michaela on Feb. 16, 19 and 21 alongside Elina Garanča and Bryan Hymel.

As a result, Munich-based South African soprano Golda Schultz will replace her.

Schultz is coming off her Metropolitan Opera debut where she performed the role of Pamina in “Die Zauberflote” and is scheduled for The Ring Cycle in Munich. She will also perform “Cosi Fan Tutte” and concerts throughout Europe.

Pérez is currently performing the countess in “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Metropolitan Opera and is scheduled for “La Traviata” at the Hamburg State Opera, Berlin State Opera and Zurich Opera. She makes her role debut as Elvira in “Ernani” at the Teatro Alla Scala and returns to Juliette in “Romeo et Juliette” at the Met.
