Glyndebourne and Pegasus Opera Company have announced the names of eight singers who will be part of the organizations’ joint mentoring program.

The artists who will be working directing with Glyndebourne include soprano Jasmine Flicker, soprano Moloko Letsoalo, baritone Carlos Felipe Cerchiaro, and bass Masimba Ushe. Meanwhile, the Pegasus Opera Company’s own Mentorship Programme 2023 will feature soprano Neeharika Gollapalli, soprano Isabella Moore, soprano Roberta Phillip, and mezzo-soprano Aina Miyagi Magnell.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Pegasus Opera Company again this year and to be working with these four excellent young singers,” said Stephen Langridge, artistic director of Glyndebourne, in an official press statement. “They will each be offered lots of opportunities to experience life at Glyndebourne and learn from established artists and professionals and we hope that their time here will provide inspiration and encouragement as they move ahead in forging a career in opera.’

These four artists working with Glyndebourne will observe  rehearsals and shadowing artists at the 2023 Glyndebourne Festival. They will also get opportunities to engage with other staff at Glyndebourne.  Moreover, Glyndebourne representatives will attend Pegasus Opera auditions and performances to scout out emerging talent for its Glyndebourne Chorus and other opportunities.

This is the second year of the collaboration, which aims to provide new opportunities for artists of African and Asian heritage.
