The Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden has announced that coloratura soprano Aleksandra Jovanović will not be appearing in the role of Konstanze in the revival of Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” between Jan. 9 – May 15, 2022.

As a result, coloratura soprano Gloria Rehm will take over the role for all performances in the run. Rehm joins a cast that includes John Irvin as Belmonte, Katerina von Bennigsen in the role of Blonde, Wolf Matthias Friedrich as Osmin, Julian Habermann as Pedrillo, and Ihsan Othmann as Bassa Selim. Konrad Junghänel conducts a production by Uwe Eric Laufenberg.

Gloria Rehm has performed the role of Blonde in Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the roles of Oscar in Verdi and Somma’s “Un Ballo in Maschera,” Gilda in Verdi and Piave’s “Rigoletto,” and Gretel in Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel” at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden. The soprano has also appeared in the role of Zerbinetta in Strauss and Hofmannstahl’s “Ariadne auf Naxos” at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, as well as the role of Königin der Nacht in Mozart and Schikaneder “Die Zauberflöte” at the Oper Frankfurt, among others.

Jovanović is scheduled to go back to the stage for performances of “Die Zauberflöte” at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in February 2022.
