Giuseppina Bridelli & Antonio Poli Lead Teatro la Fenice’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’

On Sept. 4 the Teatro la Fenice will begin its fall season with Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas.”

The opera is set to star Giuseppina Bridelli as Dido and Antonio Poli as Aeneas alongside Michela Antenucci, Martina Licari, Valeria Girardello, Lara Lagni, Chiara Brunello, and Matteo Roma with conductor Tito Ceccherini leading the work. Giovanni Di Cicco will direct the production.

Bridelli has performed at the Rossini Opera Festival, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro San Carlo, and Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Meanwhile, Poli is a rising star tenor who has performed at the Royal Opera, Berlin State Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Salzburg Festival.

The work marks the second opera performed by the company since the pandemic. During the summer the company performed a production of “Ottone in Villa.”

“Dido and Aeneas” will be performed on Sept. 4 through 6, 2020.
