Gilmmerglass Festival Announces 2023 Season

The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, New York has announced its repertory for the 2023 season.

The festival will open with Puccini’s “La bohème,” one of opera’s most unforgettable scores. Joshua Blue, Teresa Perrotta, Darren Drone, and Emilie Kealani star. Nader Abbassi conducts the production by E. Loren Meeker.

Performance Dates: July 7-August 19, 2023

The season will also present Bernstein’s “Candide” based on Voltaire’s novel. Brian Vu stars alongside Katrina Galka, Meredith Arwady, Lisa Marie Rogali, and Schylar Vargas. Joseph Colaneri conducts the production by Francesca Zambello.

Performance Dates: July 8-August 20, 2023

Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette” will showcase the classic tale of feuding families and fateful love. Duke Kim and Magdalena Kuzma star alongside Oliver Zerouali, Sergio Martinez, Stefano de Peppo, and Meredith Arwady. Joseph Colaneri conducts.

Performance Dates: July 15-19, 2023

Händel’s “Rinaldo” will take the stage. The beloved work is a fantastical story of love, magic, and heroism and features some of Handel’s greatest hits. Anthony Roth Costanzo stars alongside Jasmine Habersham, Keely Futterer, Kyle Sanchez, and Korin Thomas-Smith. Emily Senturia conducts the production by Louisa Proske.

Performance Dates: July 28-August 12, 2023

Morris/Fuentes’ “The Rip Van Winkles” will make its world premiere.
