Gerald Finley Headlines Final Opera of Glyndebourne Open House Virtual Festival

Glyndebourne has announced the final opera that will be featured as part of its virtual festival.

Starting on August 30, and running through Sept. 6, 2020, the organization will present “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” in a production by Sir David McVicar.

Vladimir Jurowski conducts a cast starring Marco Jentzsch, Anna Gabler, Topi Lehtipuu, Alastair Miles, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Gerald Finley, Colin Judson, Andrew Slater, Henry Waddington, Robert Poulton, Alasdair Elliott, Daniel Norman, Adrian Thompson, Graeme Broadbent, Maxim Mikhailov, and Mats Almgren.

Since launching in May, Glyndebourne has streamed over 15 operas including “Hamlet,” “Così fan tutte,” and “Le Nozze di Figaro,” among others. Per a press release, the company has streamed over 2,500 hours of opera and garnered over 750,000 views in that time.
