Gerald Finley, Antonio Pappano, Louise Alder Headline Royal Opera House’ Reopening Concert

The Royal Opera House has announced its first concert since the lockdown due to the spread of COVID-19.

The concert is scheduled for June 13, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. local time and will feature music by Britten, Handel, Butterworth, and Turnage performed by such artists as Louise Alder, Toby Spence, and Gerald Finley. The showcase will also feature a world premiere by Wayne McGregor. The concert will be conducted by Antonio Pappano and hosted by Anita Rani of BBC.

There will be an additional two performances on June 20 and 27 which will be available to view live and on demand via the company’s official website.

The Royal Opera House is the latest of the European houses to announce its plans to reopen its theater. Other companies that have initiated concert series to reopen include the Vienna State Opera and the Bayerische Staatsoper, among others.
