Georg Nigl, Marisol Montalvo, Christel Loetzsch & Sandrine Piau Highlight France Musique’s Streams

France Musique will stream two vocal performances on Jan. 19 & 20, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. CET.

First up, on Jan. 19, audiences will get a chance to hear a concert of soprano Sandrine Piau at L’Auditorium du Louvre featuring works by Antonio Vivaldi. Julien Chauvin conducts the concert, which was recorded on Nov. 25, 2020.

Pascal Dusapin’s opera “Penthesilea” follows on Jan. 20. The opera stars baritone Georg Nigl in the role of Achilles, soprano Marisol Montalvo as Prothoe, bass Paul Gay in the role of Odyssus, contralto Noa Frenkel as Oberpriesterin, and mezzo-soprano Christel Loetzsch in the title role.

Ariane Matiakh conducts Orchestre de Paris. The opera also features Choir Accentus. Richard Wilberforce is the Chorus Master.

The opera was recorded on Nov. 27, 2020 in the Pierre Boulez Great Hall of the Philharmonie de Paris during the Festival d’Automne.
