Eighty students, aged between 9-21, from across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, and beyond will take part in a youth opera premiere with the Garsington Opera.

The work in question is “The Happy Princess,” which is based on Oscar Wilde’s “The Happy Prince,” and it will be composed by Paul Fincham with a libretto by Jessica Duchen.

The performance is set for August 2, 2019 at the main stage at Wormsley.

The performance will feature Lara Marie Müler with a number of solo roles from the youth company as well as a professional chamber ensemble. Maestro Jonathan Swinard will lead the performance alongside director Karen Gillingham.

Garsington Opera is set to celebrate its 30th season with five major opera offerings including “The Bartered Bride,” “Don Giovanni,” “Fantasio,” “The Turn of the Screw,” and “Vespers of 1610.”
