The Edinburgh International Festival has announced its 2024 season, entitled “Rituals That Unite Us.”
“Reasserting the need for reconciliation and the value of shared experiences in today’s increasingly disconnected world, the curated programme of live music, theatre, opera and dance celebrates the practices, traditions and festivities that give us meaning and connect us – as a festival, a city, and as a society,” says a statement issued by the company regarding the theme of the festival.
While the full program has not been announced, the company revealed that there will be five operas throughout 2024, including three staged and two in concert.
First up will be “Carmen,” directed by Andreas Homoki and starring Gaëlle Arquez, Saimir Pirgu, Elbenita Kajtazibi, and Jean-Fernand Setti. Louis Langrée conducts the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
The Festival will run from August 2-25, 2023.
