Gabriella Reyes, Will Liverman Among Richard Tucker Foundation Award Grant Winners

Lisette Oropesa was announced as the big winner of the Richard Tucker Award on Monday, but there were also a number of other major artists who scored big victories through the other accolades given by the Richard Tucker Foundation.

The organization announced that the 2019 Richard Tucker Career Grants would go to sopranos Gabriella Reyes and Laura Wilde, as well as baritone Will Liverman. The will each win $10,000.

Reyes is the 2019 recipient of the Hildegard Behrens Foundation Award. Wilde is coming off performances with the Scottish Opera and Oper Stuttgart while Livermore is set or performances with Opera Philadelphia and Santa Fe Opera in coming months.

Moreover, the 2019 Sara Tucker Study Grants, which include prizes of $5,000 each to the recipients, will be given to sopranos Mathilda Edge, Jessica Faselt, and Alexandria Shiner. Mezzo-soprano Kayleigh Decker and tenors Miles Mykkanen and Richard Trey Smagur will also be given the grants.

Mykkanen is one of the recent winners of the Met Opera National Council Auditions, while Faselt recently sang roles in “Suor Angelica” and “Die Walküre” at the Met Opera this season. Decker recently starred in “Cendrillon” at the Lyric Opera of Chicago while Smagur is set for performances of “Jenufa” at the Santa Fe Opera this summer. Shiner was featured in the Washington National Opera’s 2018-19 season and Edge is set for performances at the Manchester Music Festival
