Rising star soprano Gabriella Reyes will be performing alongside the Montclair Orchestra on Sept. 22, 2019.

The concert, which will take place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, will feature the overture from Rossini’s “Semiramide,” Rimsky Korsakov’s “Scheherazade,” and Behzad Ranjbaran’s “Songs of Eternity;” this latter selection will feature Reyes. The main theme of the concert is music from Persia. The text for Ranjbaran’s “Songs of Eternity” originates from 12th century Farsi poems.

The orchestra will be conducted by its music director David Chan, who is one of the two concertmasters at the Metropolitan Opera. The orchestra is made up top-level students from some of the top music schools around the globe, including The Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, Cali School of Music, and Mason-Gross School for the Arts. Additionally, the ensemble features some of the best musicians from top orchestras in New York City, serving as “mentors.”

Reyes is currently at the Santa Fe Opera, taking on the role of Musetta in “La Bohème.”
