Gabriella Reyes & Kang Wang Headline Washington National Opera’s ‘La Bohème’

The Washington National Opera (WNO) will close out its 2022-2023 season with Puccini’s “La Bohème.” The production will run between May 13-27, 2023 at the Kennedy Center Opera House.

The famed opera will star Gabriella Reyes, Gihoom Kim, Blake Denson, Kang Wang, Peter Rose, and Jackeline Echols. Also on the cast roster are WNO Fellows Tiffany Chang, Amber Monroe, and Teresa Perrotta. Russian Alevtina Ioffe conducts.

For the May 14 and 26 performances, the company will turn over star duties to WNO’s Cafritz Young Artists including Amber Monroe as Mimì; Teresa Perrotta as Musetta; Kevin Punnackal as Rodolfo; Jonathan Patton as Marcello; Justin Burgess as Schuanard; Christian Simmons as Colline; and Samuel J. Weiser as Benoit and Alcindoro.

“The debut of this production in 2014 was a huge success, bringing the joie de vivre of post-World War I Paris to opera. Our internationally acclaimed cast includes singers poised to soar in breakneck careers,” said Tomothy O’Leary, director general of WNO, in an official press statement.

Meanwhile, Francesca Zambello, artistic director of WNO, said that, “it has been a goal to build the repertoire of the Washington National Opera to include productions of some of the most beloved operas in the world. ‘La Bohème’ is a luxurious production and We hope the public appreciates the investment that has been made.”
