Gabriel Venzago to Lead Major Music Organizations in Mainz

Gabriel Venzago will be the new chief conductor of the Mainz State Philharmonic Orchestra and General Music Director of the State Theater starting during the 2025-26 season.

The announcement was made by the Ministry for Family, Women, Culture, and Integration of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate on Sept. 23, 2024.

Venzago is represented by Harrison Parrot and is the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz. He is also the founder of the Junge Bodensee Philharmonie.

In 2024-25, the conductor is set to appear with such organizations as Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, Tiroler Sinfonieorchester, and Orchester Theater Erfurt. He recently performed with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Bochumer Symphoniker, the Brandenburger Symphoniker, Darmstadt State Orchestra, and Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, among others.
