By David Salazar

Mezzo-soprano Frederica Von Stade will headline a performance at Music at Kohl Mansion’s 2022-23 season, the 40th in the company’s history.

The season, which will be replete with chamber music ensembles, will also feature a performance with the legendary mezzo as she joins forces with the Fauré Piano Quartet (comprised of pianist Dirk Mommertz, violinist Erika Geldsetzer, violist Sascha Frömbling, and cellist Konstantin Heidrich) on March 12, 2023 for four songs by Fauré as arranged by Zakarias Grafilo.

This represents Von Stade’s debut with Music at Kohl House, which is located in Burlingame, California.

“Each concert of our 40th Season holds special meaning as we reunite our loyal audiences with beloved ensembles from our glorious past, and introduce long-awaited international artists for their live MAKM debuts,” MAKM Executive Director and Producer Patricia Kristof Moy said in an official press statement. “For this Ruby Anniversary, I am especially proud to announce the world premiere of ‘Hymn for Her’ by esteemed composer Shinji Eshima, an homage to our four decades of magnificent music-making. Complementing this commissioned work, our cherished Miró Quartet – Honorary Chairs for this season – will return with Kevin Puts’ seminal piece for our time entitled Home. Together, we will explore the many ways that music provides a sense of home, both here and around the world.”
