Frederica Von Stade & Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen Highlight Tulsa Opera’s 2020-21 Season

The Tulsa Opera has announced its 2020-21 season with three main stage productions. Here is a look at what the company will showcase.

Verdi’s “Rigoletto” opens the season with a cast that includes Sarah Coburn in the role of Gilda and Allegra De Vita as Maddalena.

Tomer Zvulun’s production, which was originally commissioned for Boston Lyric Opera, Atlanta Opera, and Omaha Opera, will be directed by Ellen Jackson. Conductor Steven White conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 9 & 11, 2020

The Tulsa Opera season continues with the company premiere of Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice.” The opera will star Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen in the title role and Lauren Snouffer as Euridice.

The semi-staged production will also star London-based dancers Daniel Hay-Gordon and Eleanor Perry. Peter Ash conducts.

Performance Dates: Feb. 6, 2021

Tulsa Opera presents Tobias Picker and Aryeh Lev Stollman’s new opera “Awakenings,” based on the 1973 book by famed neurologist Oliver Sacks. Tulsa native James Robinson directs the production which stars Paul Groves, Frederica von Stade, Mary Dunleavy, Jarrett Logan Porter, and Adrienne Danrich.

Roberto Kalb conducts the production which is set to also have Set Designer Allen Moyer, Costume Designer James Schuette, Costume Designer Greg Emetaz, Lighting Designer Christopher Akerlind, and Wig and Makeup Designer Tom Watson.

Performance Dates: April 30 & May 2, 2021
